Bloodline Limit Name: Bakudan Kai (Blast Release; lit. “bomb release”)
Clan: Hosokawa Ichizoku
STAGES & ABILITIES
There are no stages to this clan’s bloodline limit. It only has its peculiar, natural ability to deflect or dissolve chakra-based attacks, mainly ninjutsu.
Years ago, before the clan members were infected with the infamous “Hosokawa Virus”, the clan was known to utilize this special ability in conjunction with another that was Doton-based, to create a powerful variant of one of the elemental release forms. Unfortunately, this clan secret was lost after the shinobi wars, and the clan lost all of its members who were able to use it. This is largely the reason why the Hosokawa clan’s kekkei genkai shares a similar name with the other three elemental release forms of Fire (Ryuu Kai -- Yasuhiro clan; already established on the forum), Water (Nami Kai -- Fujiwara clan; not establish on the forum yet), and Air (Sei Kai -- Kazehito Clan; already established on the forum)
SIDE EFFECTS
Bakudan Kai only protects the user from physical attacks, not mental. When the a Hosokawa clan members is trapped in a genjutsu, they are completely useless as shinobi. The Blast Release recognizes that there is foreign chakra present, but cannot eliminate it because it isn’t a physical attack. In a fit of panic, the Blast Release will try to attack the clan member’s chakra and attempt to deplete it. But the Blast Release cannot do that because it relies on the clan member’s Doton chakra to function, and this is what throws it into an unresponsive state, drawing in all of its chakra from the user.
Normally, a genjutsu can be stopped in two ways -- by the victim releasing themselves with a seal or by someone injecting their chakra to interrupt the flow that the genjutsu is manipulating. For a Hosokawa clan member these two methods are completely useless because:
a) The Blast Release deflects any and all foreign physical chakra, and
b) The Blast Release has drawn in all of the clan member's chakra and seals it away until the clan member is out of the genjutsu, so othe clan member cannot releave themselves with a seal.
