	Sand Village Entrance A long, narrow passage that cuts a straight path through the desert cliffs. It is the most direct route into the Hidden Sand, the other being over the range of cliffs, though the passage is under guard. Sunagakure No Sato - Hidden Sand Village

The relationship between the Sand and Leaf has a troubled past, but the two villages have since become each others' closest allies. The isolated village rests in a nest of cliffs, and there is one path in, between itself and the desert. This combined with the leadership and skill of Gaara, the Fifth Kazekage, and his Sand Siblings boasts a secure future for their people.
